Suicide

The latest figures from the National Statistics Institute indicate that 3,941 people died by suicide in Spain in 2020, the year the pandemic began. This represents an increase of 7.4% compared to the previous year. It is the highest figure recorded to date.

Call for Life ‘024’

For people with suicidal ideas or behaviour, as well as relatives or relatives of suicide victims or people with suicidal ideas, there is the 024 telephone line.

024 is a national service (accessible from all over the national territory), free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Interpreters are available.

024 is also available in sign language here.

Remember the recommendation to contact the health services of the SNS or the referral to 112 in emergency situations. In the event of an imminent vital emergency, you can call the emergency telephone number 112 directly.
